Benny Andersson ? who wanted to recapture the glamour of the hotel from when it original opened as the Aston hotel in the 1930s. - Royal Palace:
The Palace is situated in the Old Town, and is built on the remains of its predecessor, Tre Kronor, which was destroyed by fire in 1697. The new building is one the most remarkable Baroque buildings of northern Europe. Although the palace is still used by the King as a place of work, he and his family reside in the palace at Drottningholm.
- Skansen Zoo:
Stockholm's only zoo - Skansen has Scandinavian animals such as elk, wolves and bear. Lill-Skansen is a zoo especially for children, with goat kids, hedgehogs, piglets, ducks and kittens. Situated approximately 4.5km (2.8 miles) from the hotel.

Starting Point: Arlanda Airport Leave the airport and follow the E4 towards Stockholm. When approaching the outskirts of the city follow signs for Södermalm until you reach a bridge where you can see the old town on your left hand side. Stay on the right lane of the bridge and do not proceed into main tunnel. Follow signs for Nacka/Hornstall. Turn right and you will leave Söderleden. Turn left at the traffic lights on Södernalarstraad follow signs towards Hornstall. Continue along the Harbour until the first traffic lights. Proceed in the left lane and up the street leaving Södenalarstraad. Turn left at the next traffic lights and continue two blocks. Turn right. You are now on Mariatorget. You will see the hotel on the opposite side of the market square. Welcome to the Hotel Rival.
